We understand terms used in this website and the IT Support, MSP world are too technical or might not be obvious. Here, we attempt to explain them in simple terms.
- MSP (Managed Services Provider): A third party company that provides IT Support.
- IT Support: Involves providing assistance with technology (computer) related issues.
- VPN (Virtual Private Network): A secure tunnel that is created using existing internet connection so users can connect to a private (say office/home) network and its computers.
- Firewall: A computer/device that monitors incoming and outgoing network traffic. Rules can be setup in the firewall so that specific connections are allowed (in or out) or blocked.
- Patch Management: Process that updates hardware and software so as to address bugs or performance issues.
